I found this frame and painted the material inset to work with the painting. The inset is flat but I shaded it to look rounded. Click on gallery to see it larger.

It's finished! I don't usually do this much detail on a painting but the banyon tree calls for it. I used oil paint and used a glazing medium to achieve the blending of colors. I'm quite pleased with the results. They are such interesting trees and I haven't seen one before I moved to a tropical climate.

It's about a week since I started the banyon tree and all is well. These trees are so complex but it is the perfect subject for me to get involved with at this time. It will take about another week to complete and then I'll post it.
